Mills and Hills – what’s the big idea?
I decided to set up Mills and Hills Consultancy to achieve two things really – firstly, to start a business where I could use my 25 years of experience across journalism, teaching, broadcasting, podcasting, hosting and more to good effect.
Secondly, and just as crucial for me, was the opportunity to also make it a business with purpose.
I was inspired by a TikTok clip I saw of Simon Squibb (you know the ‘do you have a dream?’ guy) talking to someone on the street about setting up an estate agent and it having a purpose by donating a percentage of the profits to a homeless charity.
So what does ‘with purpose’ mean for us?
Well, one of the things I’ve pledged to do is, for every paying client that signs up to one of our services, I’ll offer a free two-hour session for a business who perhaps, at the moment, can’t afford to pay for a service.
Why? Because it brings purpose to the business and, hopefully, when those businesses are in a position to pay, they’ll come back to Mills and Hills, and the cycle starts again…
We’re not a big agency (it’s just me… for now!), but what we are is very Northern. Very mills and hills.
Fancy coming along for the ride?
